Abstract:

As the biotech/pharma workforce has transitioned to a virtual or hybrid environment, experienced study level talent at both FSPs and CROs have been leaving their positions, resulting in resource constraints at FSP/CROs. To quickly fill the volume of required positions and compete with other recruiting positions, FSP/CROs are often forced to select from a large pool of applicants with minimal experience. The talent shortage has resulted in major training issues to get new hires up to speed, and often, the middle managers doing the training are not equipped to manage the volume and depth of the required training, resulting in the weight falling on the Sponsor.

Ultimately, what cost do these resource issues have on the quality of clinical trials and the lives of patients?

  • If your FSP/CRO team isn’t fully equipped, how do you get them to a place where they’re functional on your projects?
  • How can you interact with your FSP/CRO staff to better engage and prepare them for your project?
  • As a Sponsor, what are creative solutions to technical expertise when it’s not available in-house?
  • Are there ways to keep the newly qualified staff on your program?
  • What are the real risks if we don’t solve these issues as a community?
