Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are critical for many businesses, yet regulatory authorities often cite manufacturers with observations and comments such as ‘failure to follow procedure.’ The operator is often identified as the cause, but the real reason may be that the procedure was poorly written or difficult to follow.

This training provides practical strategies to develop an effective, instructional writing style and ways to present procedural information that increase readability and compliance. Through real world samples and interactive exercises, participants, including but not limited to, document Authors and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) gain and apply skills to write clear, consistent, and appropriate content for SOPs and work instructions.

OBJECTIVES

· Choose specific, unambiguous language to avoid misinterpretation.

· Recognize the power of active voice and parallel structure.

· Understand readability statistic parameters for SOPs.

· Use a consistent formatting structure to ensure repeatability .

· Use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
